Take a step back in time and enter the world of Shaka, probably the most legendary figure in South Africa's history, rising out of humble beginnings to forge a nation; a nation which was short-lived enduring in its heyday no longer than a single lifespan.
Experience an adventure named in honour of Shaka's mother, Nandi... the beautiful and sometimes headstrong daughter of the chief of the small eLangeni tribe of the Nguni people living on the east coast of southern Africa. She had an intimate relationship with Senzangakona, chief of a neighbouring tribe called the Zulu. Everything was fine until one day Chief Senzangakona received a message that Nandi was pregnant. Of course the accusation that the chief was the father was nothing less than scandalous and the elders sent the messenger packing. They insisted that Nandi's condition could only have been caused by uShaka, an intestinal beetle that sometimes interfered with a woman's menstrual cycle.
After about seven months the messenger returned to inform the chief that Nandi had given birth to a boy and that she had named him after the intestinal parasite, uShaka.
The adventure commences with a condensed audio-visual presentation of the life of Shaka followed by a guided tour through Shakaland's Royal Kraal. Here you will be intrigued by tales of ancient lore and legend and where you will share in the enjoyment of some of the everyday life of the Zulu people, such as, basket weaving, beer making and drinking and pottery to name but a few.
A drum roll heralds the start of a spectacular dance show which keeps audiences spell bound. This is followed by a sumptuous lunch at the SIHSA NYAMA restaurant.
