Golden Gate Highlands National Park and Clarens Tour

This tour is designed for those of us who enjoy sitting back in comfort while being taken on an extended scenic drive. From Durban on the coast to Clarens in the Free State, the route offers great opportunities to take in the beauty of the midlands, the splendour of the Drakensberg and the expanse of the Sterkfontein Dam.

Further on, tucked away in the rolling hills of the Maluti Mountains, the Golden Gate Highlands National Park provides views of breathtaking scenery of wildlife and lush vegetation.

Winter often finds the peaks of the Malutis and the surrounding lowlands blanketed in snow and, as the tour allows for a brief stop, winter visitors need to be prepared for chilly conditions when they disembark the coach.

The tour has as its destination the village of Clarens which is about twenty kilometres from Golden Gate. This village has become known as the "Jewel of the Free State", rich in beauty with an aura of peace and tranquility.

Clarens is well known for the many art and craft shops which allow the visitor to enjoy some fun shopping with a wide range of curios and original artwork to choose from. Included in this tour is a light lunch.
